Dr. Russell grew up on a cattle ranch and wheat farm in Roggen, Colorado. She knew she wanted to be a veterinarian from the time she was three and followed her uncle—a large animal veterinarian—around from an early age. She obtained her BS in Microbiology followed by her DVM degree from Colorado State University. She is currently finishing a PhD in Cellular
She is a diehard Rams fan who never takes for granted being a Colorado native—loving camping, fishing and sports including basketball, rugby, running and snowboarding. Though livestock medicine will always hold a place near and dear to her heart, Dr. Russell has narrowed her focus to Emergency Medicine and Critical Care, as well as oncology. She is specifically fascinated with novel, minimally invasive therapeutics and techniques for treatment of cancers when traditional approaches are unsuccessful. Dr. Russell is married and lives with her partner and their soul dog Tyrone Rae and mutant cat Kulu Dobby (she does not play favorites).
